About B.R.K. Sastry Garu

Introduction

Sri B.R.K. Sastry Memorial Rural ITI was established by Sri B.R. Sastry in memory of his father, Late Sri Balijepalli Ramakrishna Sastry (Sri B.R.K. Sastry). The institution was founded with the vision of empowering rural youth through quality technical education, practical skill development, and industry-oriented vocational training. It stands as a lasting tribute to the values, vision, and lifelong service of Sri B.R.K. Sastry Garu.

Located in Kolluru Village, Bapatla District, Andhra Pradesh, the institution equips students with technical knowledge, practical expertise, and professional ethics, preparing them for successful careers in the skilled workforce.

The Inspiration Behind the Institution

Late Sri Balijepalli Ramakrishna Sastry (Sri B.R.K. Sastry) was born in 1922. He pursued his education in Tenali, Guntur, and Varanasi, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree along with diplomas in Oil Technology and Soap Technology. He began his professional career in 1947, dedicating himself to technical excellence and innovation.

While working with the Birla Group in Akola, Sri B.R.K. Sastry Garu developed exceptional expertise in electronics. He earned recognition for servicing radio sets and imported electronic equipment. In 1957, he established an Electronics Servicing Centre in Tenali, where he specialized in manufacturing transistor radio sets.

Later, Sri B.R.K. Sastry Garu served the Birla Group in Kurnool, Secunderabad (1962), and Nigeria, Africa (1964), where he held key technical and managerial responsibilities in the company's factories. After returning to India, he resumed service in the Birla Group's Akola factory in a senior position. He later worked in Hyderabad with complete operational responsibility for an industrial organization and continued his professional service until 1976.

In 1977, Sri B.R.K. Sastry Garu returned to his native village, Kolluru, with a vision to develop modern agricultural equipment and promote electronics by designing innovative devices and providing technical training to young people. Sadly, on 9 June 1985, he passed away following a heart attack while traveling by bus to Vijayawada.

Inspired by the Vision of Sri G.D. Naidu

Sri B.R.K. Sastry Garu greatly admired the renowned Indian inventor and industrialist Sri G.D. Naidu and was deeply inspired by his philosophy of life: 25 years for education, 25 years for building a career, and 25 years for serving society.

He firmly believed in the principle of "Simple Living, High Thinking," and reflected these values throughout his life.

Carrying Forward a Legacy

Inspired by his father's ideals, values, and commitment to society, Sri B.R. Sastry established Sri B.R.K. Sastry Memorial Rural ITI. As the founder, he dedicated the institution to providing quality vocational education, hands-on practical training, and employment-oriented skill development, empowering rural youth to build successful careers.

Recognition & Commitment to Quality

Sri B.R.K. Sastry Memorial Rural ITI is recognized by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and proudly holds the All India Grade VIII classification, reflecting its commitment to maintaining high standards in vocational and technical education.
